Web design from Michigan, for all 50 states
We are a Michigan studio. We build your website free, in about seven days, and you only pay if you decide to keep it.
Freedom35 Web Design is a small web design studio based in Michigan. We build custom-coded websites for small businesses — the whole site, free, usually in about seven days — and then charge between $180 and $1,200 a year to host it, look after it and make your changes. If you look at the finished site and decide against it, you walk away owing nothing. That is the entire offer, and the prices are published on the pricing page rather than quoted after a phone call.
We work with clients anywhere in the United States. Being in Michigan matters for one honest reason and not for the reason you might expect.
Do you have to be in Michigan to work with us?
No. Everything we do is delivered online, so where you are makes no practical difference to the work. We have clients in Michigan and clients well outside it, and the process is identical either way: you fill in the intake form, we reply in writing within one business day, we build the site, you look at it on a private link, and then you decide.
There is no site visit to schedule, no meeting to drive to, and no travel cost buried in your invoice. If you are in Michigan and would rather work with someone in the same state, that is a perfectly good reason to pick us. If you are in Ohio or Oregon, nothing about the service changes.
Why we do not have an office you can visit
Because you would be paying for it. An office is one of the larger fixed costs a web design agency carries, and it is recovered from clients — usually invisibly, inside a build fee or a monthly retainer. We would rather not have the cost, so we do not charge you for it.
The trade is real and worth stating plainly. You do not get to sit across a desk from us. What you get instead is a price low enough that a free build and a $180-a-year plan are possible at all, and a written record of every decision rather than a conversation nobody wrote down.
Everything in writing, on purpose. We do not publish a phone number and we do not run sales calls. You get a considered reply you can re-read and forward to a business partner, instead of a pitch you have to remember. It is also how a one-person studio gives every client a proper answer rather than a rushed one.
A Michigan project we built
Mustard Seed Music and Arts Academy is a live client and the site is public, so you can judge the work yourself rather than take our description of it. It is not a brochure site. Parents browse a class catalogue with live seat counts, enrol their children, pay by card, and manage their household from a family portal — including the waiver, media release and medical forms, signed online. Instructors log in to their own dashboard for rosters, attendance and lesson planning, and the owners get a back office with enrolment numbers and a bookkeeping ledger.
That is the upper end of what we build. Most sites are considerably simpler, and priced accordingly.
What it costs
The build is free on every plan. The annual price covers hosting, the SSL certificate, backups, and a set number of update requests — new prices, new staff, new opening hours, a paragraph you want reworded.
| Plan | Per year | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $180 | Personal projects, clubs, portfolios. Up to 5 pages. |
| Business | $600 | A business that needs to be found, trusted and contacted. Up to 12 pages. |
| Pro | $1,200 | When the site has to actually do something — booking, accounts, payments. |
Plans are prepaid annually with a 12-month minimum, and your price is locked for as long as you stay. You buy and own your own domain name, directly, in your name — it costs about $12 to $15 a year and we help you set it up. That is deliberate: owning your own domain is what stops any of this from being a hostage arrangement. There is more detail, including a full list of what is not included, on the pricing page.
Who we are a bad fit for
We would rather say this up front than waste your week.
- If you need an online store with a product catalogue, cart and checkout, that is custom work quoted separately — it is not part of any plan.
- If you want to meet in person, regularly, we are the wrong studio. Everything here is written.
- If you want someone to write your entire site from scratch, that is a separate job. We will edit, restructure and tighten what you send us.
- If the cheapest possible option is the goal, a website builder you run yourself will beat us on price. We say so on our Wix comparison, honestly.
How to start
Fill in the intake form. It takes about ten minutes and asks what your business does, what the site needs to do, and what you like the look of. No card is requested at any point. We read it properly and reply within one business day — sometimes with questions, occasionally with an honest "we are not the right people for this."
Then we build it, and you look at a finished website before any money changes hands. Read how it works for the full process, step by step, with the stopping points marked.

Ten minutes on the form, a finished website to look at, and no obligation at the end of it.
